The only treasure shows that have actually found any significant treasure are those on ship wrecks. The Curse of Oak Island aired its first episode on Jan. Millions of dollars have been spent digging pits, looking for gold and other buried treasure. ![]() ![]() Others dispute that claim, with critics arguing the apparent pit is a natural sinkhole. Thirty metres down, they said, they found a slab carved with unfamiliar symbols and felt certain they were close to the treasure.īut when they returned the next morning, the shaft was two-thirds full of water - the result of what some say was an elaborate booby trap designed to keep greedy hands off the prize. Nine years later, in 1804, they returned as part of a syndicate formed to retrieve the island's buried secret. Disheartened, the three abandoned the dig. Recalling local lore that said pirates had stashed their booty on many of the islands in Mahone Bay, they began to dig.Ī layer of flagstones gave way to two wood platforms farther down, but nothing turned up. Since the 18th century, many have tried and failed to find the riches said to be buried on the island.Īs legend has it, in 1795 a trio of young men noticed a depression in the ground. There are many theories about what might be buried on the island, including pirate treasure, gold buried by the Knights Templar and the missing French crown jewels. Six people have died in pursuit of the treasure, either in collapsed excavation pits or other accidents. It was loaded with gold." 6 have died in search of treasure They had, what, 13 ships left England that's never been found?" said Blankenship. The example thief is level 1 but has Constitution 18 and 7 HP - the maximum! A number of wounds in the adventure are pretty small, but you don't have too many chances to avoid them. Interesting advice, too, if you make your own guy - "If the thief is first or second level, he should have a high constitution and more than the average number of hit points." It's a dangerous adventure, it says - and you can see how a low-HP guy is just betting no one makes any rolls against you before you get to the end. ![]() The game comes with pre-rolled character, but you can also make up your own. LinuxSampler lets you set the port and channel for each track, but lmms does not. In addition, one is limited to 16 channels, which means firing up a second instance of lmms if more are needed (say, for a full orchestra). ![]() There are occasional and inexplicable dropped notes under other circumstances-very few, but enough to have required three takes for my final mix to get the missing notes. There are issues with single-staff polyphony (if a note is being held in one voice on the staff, the same note is dropped every time the second voice requires it). (Not to mention getting the clarinets to sound right in both the chalumeau and clarino registers.) It’s a difficult combo to work with, and would never have come off successfully without the ability to add glassiness to the high strings while maintaining warmth in the middle register, bringing out the “chestiness” of the bass in its upper register, or achieving decent bariolage in the guitar part. My piece, a song called Remember, is scored for a solo cello supported by clarinets, bassoons, high strings (6 violins I, 4 violins II), arco bass, and guitar. What this means is that the timbre of each instrument can be individually tailored-on-the-fly, if necessary, during the final mix. sf2 soundfonts, as a sampler it has one mighty advantage over LinuxSampler: you can apply equalization and other effects separately to every track. Long and short of it, I connected Musescore to 'lmms' (Linux Multimedia Studio) and used its sf2 player to render my score. My idea was that if I had finer control over the sound of my instrumental tracks, I could create the bariolage effect outside of Musescore. (Bariolage = the same note played successively on two different strings.)įaced with a barrier so daunting I was inclined to set the project aside, I decided to approach the problem of bariolage from a different angle by exploring the capabilities a sampler different from the one I normally use, LinuxSampler. I posted a few weeks ago about buggy copy+paste operations in Musescore 1.3 that were standing in the way of creating acceptable guitar bariolage playback. 8/30/2023 0 Comments Dr raskin mass general![]() ![]() Raskin most recently worked for Genesis Healthcare in Andover, MA as northeast area vice president of medical affairs, and was formerly the chief of rheumatology at University of Nevada. 8/30/2023 0 Comments Life drinking game![]() The policy adheres to all legislated liquor laws and our liquor licenses. Wooden Sticks GC in Uxbridge, for example, lists the following on its COVID-19 Update page: “Important Notice: All alcohol must be purchased from the course hospitality stations or clubhouse. And then try asking for your money back as you’re being removed from the premises.Ī requirement for courses to effectively implement such procedures should ideally include a written policy on their websites, including reserving the right to inspect golf bags and cooler bags. And if you don’t think that’s fair and want to complain about the on-course markup on beers and cocktails, try walking into Scotiabank Arena for a Toronto Maple Leafs game-well, the next time you can actually do that anyway-with a six-pack loaded in your padded cooler bag and see how far you get. Part of that responsibility entails preventing anyone from opening and consuming their own liquor on the golf course. “If a golf course is unable or unwilling to comply with the LLA, the AGCO can take regulatory action. This can include a verbal warning, a written warning, a temporary suspension of the licence or, in the most serious cases, a revocation of their liquor licence.” It is up to these licensees to implement measures to ensure that they are in compliance with the law,” Kahnert continues. “We do work with all licensed establishments to help them understand their obligations under the LLA. As an example, AGCO Compliance Officials will inspect to verify that the licensee is not permitting drunkenness, allowing service to minors, allowing Illegal liquor on premise or serving outside the prescribed hours. During these inspections, we will verify that a licensee is operating in compliance with the LLA and its applicable regulations. As part of that inspection, the Compliance Official may attend multiple areas of the golf course including the clubhouse and playing area. ![]() ![]() “AGCO Compliance Officials do visit golf courses across Ontario and conduct inspections. “There are two elements to a golf club’s liquor sales licence: the liquor sales licence itself (to sell and serve liquor in the clubhouse, restaurant, outdoor patios, etc.) and a Golf Course Endorsement, which allows the club to sell and serve alcohol on the playing area of a golf course,” explains Raymond Kahnert, Senior Advisor in the Communications and Corporate Affairs Division of the AGCO. Under the LLA, licensees-including golf clubs-are required to ensure that alcohol is sold, served and consumed in a responsible manner. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is responsible for administering the Liquor Licence Act (LLA) and specific sections of the Liquor Control Act (LCA). And that presents a challenge for golf course managers tasked with protecting both customers and themselves-particularly when they’re not aware of all the alcohol those patrons are consuming. After all, for many avid linksters, golf is more of a social outing than a competitive exercise-meaning enjoying a few wobbly pops along the way is a welcome offshoot. There were, indeed, alcoholic beverages dispensed at the clubhouse at the turn, but the comment inferred that the very concept of playing golf without raising your blood-alcohol level was both abhorrent and inconceivable. One of the responders to Burrows’ comment, in fact, observed, “When I played the other day they told us in the pro shop told us there was no cart girl-that was last minute. And there is likely no other ‘sport’ that embraces the consumption of alcohol during play quite the way that golf does. Folklore, of course, but it seems that the simultaneous enjoyment of golf and inebriants have indeed been intertwined for centuries. The legend goes that the measure of a standard round of golf was determined by some old Scot who rationed himself to a shot of whisky per hole, arriving at 18 holes until the bottle was drained. 5 along with the accompanying image of a cooler bag full of beer, a heated online discussion commenced about the practice of confiscating smuggled alcohol, as well as potentially removing players from the golf course without a raincheck. Be aware.”Īnd so with that Facebook post from Seguin Valley GC General Manager Gail Burrows, issued Sept. Guests, we will ask you to leave without a refund.
